In this case, we delved into the smBGCs of <em>Streptomyces roseochromogenes<\/em> to identify the genes responsible for producing limocrocin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" data-id=\"184\" src=\"https:\/\/explogen.com.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Streptomyces-roseochromogenes-1024x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/explogen.com.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Streptomyces-roseochromogenes-1024x1024.png 1024w, https:\/\/explogen.com.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Streptomyces-roseochromogenes-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/explogen.com.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Streptomyces-roseochromogenes-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/explogen.com.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Streptomyces-roseochromogenes-768x768.png 768w, https:\/\/explogen.com.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Streptomyces-roseochromogenes.png 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Actinomycete genomes harbor dozens of BGCs for the production of diverse specialized metabolites. Majority of these BGCs, however, remain cryptic under typical laboratory conditions. Our work sheds the light on the biosynthesis of LIM family compounds in bacteria, which had remained unknown for seven decades, and offers a convenient biological platform to overproduce LIM and generate its analogs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"685\" height=\"229\" data-id=\"182\" src=\"https:\/\/explogen.com.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/12934_2024_2621_Fig2_HTML.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-182\" srcset=\"https:\/\/explogen.com.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/12934_2024_2621_Fig2_HTML.webp 685w, https:\/\/explogen.com.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/12934_2024_2621_Fig2_HTML-300x100.webp 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 685px) 100vw, 685px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">\ud83d\udd0d Why does this matter?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Limocrocin <\/strong>has shown significant potential in interfering with viral reverse transcriptases, which are enzymes that certain viruses use to replicate their genetic material.
